Rescue/Shelter Partnership Program

One of our lead trainers, Felicia Santana’s, greatest passions is philanthropy, to help non-profit rescues increase successful and lasting adoptions. We like to help maintain a consistent turnaround for rescues so they can save as many dogs as possible. Rescues often have unsuccessful adoptions (dogs being returned/relinquished), dogs being euthanized, and dogs spending an extended period at the shelter.

These facilities’ main issues are:

  • Behavioral issues in the home

  • Public reactivity

  • Not matching the correct dog with a compatible dog owner/household

  • Poor behavioral and temperament evaluations/conclusions

  • Deeming older dog’s to be “set in their ways” or not trainable

  • Considering dogs/puppies aggressive or mentally unstable when they are not

  • Thinking dogs be adopted to any household, with no issues in the future

Our best-case scenario is finding the best owner match for the dog, to hopefully find their forever home.

Our Rescue Partnership includes:

  • 60% discount on 4 week board and training services for local and out of state rescues/shelters. (This does NOT include any tools. Rescues can choose to add tools to the adoption fee, cover the cost or have new adopters/owners purchase on their own)

  • Behavioral evaluations and in-depth temperament testing.

  • PDS will provide details on the individual dog, to suggest the best home, based off of the dog’s personality, temperament, and training needs. (Example: family/at home dogs vs active lifestyle households, no other dogs in the home etc.)

  • Accomplishing our goals with each rescue dog.

  • Posting pictures and videos on PDS social media of the training process, for rescuers to share and help promote adoptions.

  • Two, 2 hour, go-home lessons (1 lesson right after training is complete, teaching new owner/foster how to keep up with training. One lesson 2 to 4 weeks after dog gets officially adopted to follow up.)
